“Hi, I’m Paula. I created Enjoy the Pause to give guests a truly restorative base in the heart of my historic home city.”
I started hosting in 2016 in Manchester, with a three-bedroom holiday home. When my family moved to Chester, Enjoy the Pause opened its doors in 2019.
In 2024, Enjoy the Pause was named Self-Catering Accommodation of the Year at the Marketing Cheshire Tourism Awards.
Even to this day I still check the cleaning myself, prepare the house before you arrive and share the same local recommendations I give my own friends and family.

Where is Enjoy the Pause?
On Steele Street, Chester CH1 1RH, inside the city walls. The nearest steps up onto the walls are a two minute walk, and the Rows are five minutes on foot.

Is there parking?
Yes. One free private parking space, about 10 metres from the front door. There is no electric car charging at the house.
How many people does it sleep?
Up to four guests, plus a baby in a travel cot. There is a king bedroom and a double bedroom, both upstairs with the bathroom.

What time can I arrive and leave?
Booked direct, you are in from 3pm and out by 11am. A smart lock means no keys. Paula can often agree an earlier arrival or later departure, at no charge.

How far is the railway station?
Chester railway station is about a 20 minute walk from the front door.
Can I bring my dog?
Sorry, no pets. Trained assistance dogs supporting a disabled guest are welcome, at no extra charge.
